Update and refine City systems and protocols to enable implementation or the SCP.
The City needs effective and consistent data collection polices, procedures or systems to be in place to enable-effective decision making.Deploying smarter technologies and systems will help to inform and assist in the City's climate work. These systems can mitigate climate impacts, such as traffic lights that track and adjust the light schedules to reduce the time that cars idle at red lights. Other systems can help track flooding and air quality issues, allowing the City to address and dedicate resources as needed more quickly. In addition, technology can help to better communicate and share data with the community-at-large.

Update data collection systems to more effectively understand, track, and monitor climate-related activities, particularly related to energy use, air quality, and health metrics.
Expected Outcomes
Transparent communication between the City and residents about progress toward implementing the SCP, including disaggregated data by neighborhood and/or ward, where possible.
Better collection and use of data to direct and monitor climate-related activities and impacts.
How will we achieve this?
Our Actions
I.1
Implement and maintain the new ClearPath 2.0 tool (or equivalent) to track SCP implementation and GHG emissions.
I.2
Work with City Departments to expand and enforce sustainable municipal purchasing and operations policies.

Deploy smart technology, such as signal/traffic optimization, disaster and flood tracking, and citizen science tools, to provide the City with more accurate and timely information while using less staff time, improving air quality, and supporting resilience.

Explore new and emerging technologies to speed and scale climate solutions, such as municipal biochar and the development of carbon sinks.
I.5
Monitor and share air quality information citywide.
