Pillar 1

Promote a Safe, Healthy, and Climate-Resilient City

The focus of Pillar 1 is creating a community that is safe, healthy, and resilient – not just about public safety and crime but about building a vibrant, thriving city that enriches the lives of all St. Louisans and all who pass through. This Pillar focuses on expanding and improving the city’s physical systems, infrastructure, and services to enable a more climate-friendly city.

"Recent floods and heavy rainfall destroyed my studio equipment and I had to spend thousands to replace equipment, carpet and furniture because the insurance companies refuse to insure us or opportunistically drop us during a disaster. In moments like these, you either sink or swim. And I learned to swim…. As a community, we banded together by helping each other move furniture and our assets out of the basements."

- Tyrone Johnson, Kingsway East and the Greater Ville (“Kingsville”)
